Tiger Stylish

Chipping away at my backlog of things to post, here is a project I did for the Eastern PA Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators' Illustrator's Day, which was back in June (and it is now, uh, September.)  Anyway, we were given a text of a picture book and told to develop a design for the main character.  The text was for a book called Mr. Tiger Goes Wild, it was about a tiger who becomes tired of the stuffy society he lives in and runs off into the wilderness.  Eventually he becomes homesick and returns, but the other animals have learned to accept him and his wild ways.

These are the drawings I did.  At the event, I learned that the book was written and illustrated by the talented and hilarious Peter Brown - whose Creepy Carrots! had recently recieved a Caldecott Honor. The book had not come out at the time, but you can now check out the real author's much more classy-looking Mr. Tiger here.
